Unhappy with this new series of Stargate (Universe)

The plot, episodes, sounds in the background, dimly lit scenes, etc. don't impress me at all compared to SG-1 and Atlantis! Anyone know if this is produced by same director, staff, etc. as the previous versions? It seems to be more like Battlestar Gallatica's productions (which also wasn't good for me).

Why isn't there at least some interaction with aliens, some new insight regarding the ship, etc.?
Do you find this valuable?

I agree with you. I am disapointed with the lack of Special technology and Aliens. This show has awsome potential. Keep watching in hopes that they will step back from all the emotional mumbo jumbo and jump into some cool story lines.

I agree with all points mentioned. I don't think that empathy for the characters can be forced, nor can interest in their general welfare. I loved SG-1 because it carried a strong sense of momentum--exploration, conflicts with others, allies made, etc. This show seems to ooze whining and negativity. Doesn't science fiction exist to remind us of how we could be, of our potentials and our better natures? What about this show does that? I will continue to watch in the hopes that things will improve. I'm not asking for all sweetness and light, just more variety. Do you find this valuable?

Personally, I love this new show. I have not watched any Stargate other than the original movie, but I have been hooked by this show. I love the look of it, and I love the premise. In fact, this show has inspired me to start watching the other Stargate series'. Do you find this valuable?

I think you'll be surprised by the other stargates. Totally different shows.

Surprised in what way? A good way? A bad way? In the "feel" of the show? Do you find this valuable?

I'm a huge fan of the SG saga, however SGU is not a favorite. I believe once you watch the other ones you will be disapointed. In SG1 it takes off from the Movie and explains the aliens, in Stargate Atlantis the base is on another planet in a different galaxy. Lots of Aliens, and true syfi all the way around. I can see how you'd view SGU a great since you haven't seen the others. However the other shows put SGU to shame. Just my opinion
