Can They Do It?

SG-1 worked well because of the fanbase, because of the original concept, and the wonderful team of writers working with such a fantastic story such as this. Cue the spin-off SGA - working within an idea in the original series - fans are nervous about a new cast and story. And yet, SUCCESS! Perhaps it was because of the character similarities that really payed off (Teal'c=Ronon, for instance, with some difference, but a LOT of similarities) or the literal worlds of possibilities, but the franchise has gripped us since '94 - the emergence of the movie that started it all. They've done well so far. The more I think about it, the more I feel convinced that it can be done, despite a completely skeptical fan base to please and a confined setting as opposed to the past. The idea sounds like an "edge of your seat" thrill, but as I feel like I must repeat - we're talking about an idea that can go in a thousand directions. The gate opens - the world is no longer what we knew. And what now? Excitement! I feel that the only downfall may be an incredibly short run in store... but... I just can't help but be a little hopeful =3 I also feel comforted when I see that Jack and Daniel and Sam will all make a guest appearance... It's as if they give a sort of approval to the upcoming series by partaking in it. But, well... we've got until October until we will truly know! <3 Do you find this valuable?

Since many of the people involved with the other Stargate series are working on the new show we can expect the same quality. If you read Joe Malozzi's blog you'll find him quite excited about the new direction. That has to be a good thing. Do you find this valuable? |

If you are a fan, it has to be...love all things Stargate. I look at it as easing the pain of the other two being gone (to DVD)....lol No, really...I miss the shows. I can't wait for the premiere. Yeah October 2nd...seems too far away.

I've been a fairweather Stargate series fan, to be honest, and this is the first one I'm really excited about because of the cast. I think I'll be one of many people who take notice because of Robert Carlyle, Lou Diamond Philips, etc. Do you find this valuable? |
