"What do you think of him? Let us know what you think!"
He's that mad scientist type in my opinion. Although in the end he wants the safety of everyone on that ship, the fever of knowledge, that curiosity inside drives him to risk other people's lives for that "answer" he's searching for. In the pilot, we see he takes a picture out of a drawer, and then cries, so he lost some loved ones. All these aspects make him a very interesting character. He already is my favorite character in the show, and Robert Carlyle does a great job at doing Dr. Rush.

He's a mad scientist indeed, and a great character, played by an excellent actor!
He was obsessed by the 9th chevron and didn't care for the others. He rather dialed the 9th chevron and led them all to the ship. He seems to make some insane decisions, or they seem to be insane to the others, but after all, he's just tryong to do the best. He's devoted to work on the ship and to try to fix it... i think it's an interesting relation between the ship and Rush. Rush seems to be a bit conversative, as we have seen in the Pilot when he started from the beginning and Eli suggested to save and to use the computers.
He doesn't seem to like anyone else but the ship and Eli. O'Neill trusts him, and i don't think he does that just for fun, he has reasons to trust me, and i think others have or will have so, too. It's a very great character, and as SGU said, he lost his wife and that makes him even more interesting... i guess his deceased wife will play a role in flashbacks and characteristical moments of Rush. He's my favorite character, and i can't wait to see more of him and his character interacting with others and developping.

Rush is certified. He knew the Destiny would be OK in last nights show, of course it would not let itself fry in the stars core. Starting to see a pattern where Rush has no life back on Earth and the ship is his new and only life so he will do about anything to keep the Destiny moving forward but not influence it's immediate return to Earth. Shady dude. Maybe his flash back wife will help set him straight... Do you find this valuable?

THE quintessential driven scientist.
I love the contrast between him and Samantha Carter / Peter McKay -
"yeah, yeah, I'll fix that and save the people ...now can I get back to the IMPORTANT thing I was doing ?"
Carlyle was SO great in "Trainspotting" and "Adolph Hitler", and you can see some of those character flaws in his portrayal of Rush.

Dr. Nicholas Rush is by far one of the greatest characters to grace the Stargate Series. In my opinion he rivals characters such as Dr. Daniel Jackson. Robert Carlyle does an amazing job in the show and portrays Dr. Rush brilliantly. He is not insane, only a calculating machine who follows logic and reason above anything else. He doesn't let emotion cloud his judgement and always strives to better the aspects of Destiny. The people he sees are but thoughts in his mind, a consciousness which helps him to find the solutions to his equations. His genius like machiavelli manipulations are quite impressive and only add to the depth of the character. Do you find this valuable?

I loved Rush in "Malice".... esp when he became bent on vengeance for the death of his friend. ( I forgot her name, but she is the one that is a quadriplegic)
Also the death of the redhead that was Eli's love interest.
Rush is a nice complicated character with multi levels to him.
He is neither good or bad....just a nice mix that makes you like and hate him at the same time.
