At the age of four Matthew Scott lost both his parents in a horrible accident. He was then taken under the wing of a priest. The priest raised him and taught him the ways of god. Matthew strived to become a priest himself when suddenly his hopes and dreams were smashed when he got a sixteen year old girl pregnant. The girl went on to have an aportion and Matthew's dreams of becoming a priest died.

Soon after this, the priest who had raised him drank himself to death, leaving young Matthew in a world of confusion and doubt about his future.

Matthew turned to the air-force, becoming a Lieutenant and highly qualified pilot by twenty six.
His first real assignment was on Icarus Base. He was stationed there as Colonel Young's right hand man.

He is capable but unprepared for the leadership role/roles that he has suddenly been thrown into. Although he is the main solid rock holding the peace between the opposing members of the crew, whether it be military or civilian.

Deeply in-love with a Chloe Armstrong, and has very close ties with Sergeant Greer, Eli, and Colonel Young whom all respect him and admire him a great deal.

Matthew Scott has a great determination and is one of the few military personal who is still compassionate about the civilians after all the civilians have done to undermine the military.

A well placed addition to the Destiny team.
