I have read hundreds of science fiction stories, and viewed dozens of movies and series. I really liked SG-1 FOR EXAMPLE. Each time I have viewed Universe, I have hoped for the best, but have experienced the worse! Theser writers seem to know nothing about how to create a science fiction plot, or develop interesting characters, nor interesting relationships. Look at the best: Star Trek. Big ideas, interesting but understandable science, clearly defended interesting characters, super relationships between characters. Everyone felt that they knew and cared for these people. They seemed real...and you wanted to be there with them! Universe has had two years to refine their theme and characters, but have failed miserably!!! I could write better scripts..sad to say...very SAD.

I heard lots of you like 'Eli'. Why?
I have to say, sorry, that I hate that guy, he can't compare himself to McKay... He's just a young scientist kid, probably put in there for teenagers to enjoy the show more... He acts immature and is not that good of an actor either... Am I missing something here? :|

This has to be my favorite episode thus far. Chloe sleeps with Lt. Scott, and Eli is heartbroken, but demonstrates strong character. I loved it how Eli first crawled into bed and hid himself, and then broke out of it. I have to say David Blue/Eli Wallace is my favorite actor/character on the show.
I knew all along that Destiny was going to be solar powered. That seemed fairly obvious, but I'm glad the writers threw us for a loop by not making the shuttle return an automatic thing.
One thing's for sure. This show rocks! I was a fan of SG1; I didn't like Stargate Atlantis, but I loooove SGU.

I saw a brief write-up on episode 1.06 on ign.com. Here it is.
Despite severe rationing and around the clock security, the water reserves on board the Destiny continue to drop. Dr. Nicholas Rush has no explanation for this latest setback but, if they are to survive, they must find a new water source soon. The only planet within range is a frozen wasteland surrounded by a thin and poisonous atmosphere. Donning two of the ships deteriorated spacesuits, Col. Young and Lt. Scott head to the planet’s surface, hoping to retrieve enough ice to replenish their water supply. But once there, tests reveal that the ice near the Stargate contains traces of highly toxic chemicals. Young and Scott take off in search of drinkable samples knowing they don't have long before their air will run out and Destiny jumps back to FTL.
Back on board the ship, Lt. Tamara Johansen works with the crew to catch an intruder they believe is responsible for the lost rations.
